SYDNEY (ABC News-RPT by TNC) | The center-right Coalition composed of the Liberal and National parties have officially won the seat of Brisbane, according to ABC News with Teresa Gambaro ahead by 800 votes. This seat is centered near many LRP members in Titulia and some have said they were campaigning on behalf of incumbent Labor MP Arch Bevis. The ABC made their official projection today at around 3 PM Sydney time/ 1 AM New York time. This seat was the final one in doubt and it puts the Coalition headed by Opposition Leader Tony Abbott a better chance at forming the next government with several independent MPs. The final count below is by ABC News 24, and TNC is not responsible for any changes to it:
There are about 4 independents and 1 Green. 3 of those independents and the 1 Green have been negotiating with both Caretaker Labor PM Julian Gillard and Mr Abbott.
The new independent – Andrew Wilkie won a seat in the state of Tasmania after a long-fought battle with the incumbent Labor MP.
However – we must point out that there are still 8,000 votes to be counted. Today, we can expect the final result as Brisbane was the final seat in doubt.
UPDATE: Sky News Australia has also called this projection : 73 for Coalition , 72 for Labor.
ANALYSIS: This is the second time a hung parliament has occurred this year with an incumbent Labour government. The first occurred in the UK with Incumbent PM Gordon Brown (Lab) losing a coalition deal to New PM David Cameron (Con).
